Some thought provoking articles...
For any of you that are frequenters of Thought Catalogue you'll know that many times you come away from articles with a whole new perspective on the world. Recently a few facebook friends of mine posts two articles on living in places and I thought I'd share them. Maybe they'll help you gain a new perspective. Share your thoughts...

I actually hadn't gotten a chance to read that article before I posted it, but I can usually count on Thought Catalogue to churn out good, thought-provoking stuff so I'm glad it had that effect. And yes, I actually found myself agree with everything he says despite the fact that I am an American. It's unfortunate though that we allow these ideals to consume us as a nation, instead we're too focused on what doesn't really matter (cough royal baby, cough). This article actually makes me consider living in another country.

I am so tired of reading/hearing about the royal baby!

thaaaaaank you! that is such a relief to hear, I mean I'm happy for them really but for real I wish people would just leave them alone and be concerned about something important, in our country.

Exactly! I was watching TV earlier this evening and they had a story about a guy in the US who was 96th in line for the throne but now he's 97th. I immediately changed the channel but it's like really you can't find anything else to report on? >.

I don't even watch TV anymore, so when things happen I'm always the last to know about them. I've started checking NPR news just to find out what's going on but if its not important or life-altering than I don't even bother reading the article.

omg this article is brilliant! i'm an american and agree with everything. it's so sad and sobering to think about. i wish more americans would read articles like that and understand how our nation is collapsing from within because of those sort of beliefs and ideals. plus, the sarcasm of the author was so wonderful and refreshing. americans think they rule the world, when in fact we do not. thanks for sharing! :)

oh of course! I definitely felt a lot more humbled after reading that article, and I agree the sarcasm of the author was grand
